What year jag is this? And what is the exact numeric trouble code you're getting when you scan the computer?

A knock sensor fault can reduce the power of the engine because it may be retarding the timing. Or you could also have just the opposite you may have a noise in the engine which is causing the knock sensor to activate all the time. Is there any unusual noises in the engine?

There are few things that can cause this possibly a loose timing chain tensioner, or a faulty valve timing solenoidListen at the top of the engine for any unusual noise while running which might indicate a loose secondary timing chain or damaged tensioner, or a faulty valve timing actuator.
Use a Digital Multimeter set on duty cycle to test the signal at the VVT actuator solenoids on the terminals at the actuator by backprobing both wires at the connector. The reading at idle should be approximately 12% duty cycle; as the engine is revved, the duty cycle should increase.
Inspect oil quality on dipstick or access maintenance history if available, to verify the vehicle has had regular engine oil changes. Sludge accumulation in the top end of the engine can set these DTC's.
Remove both valve covers and inspect the wear shoe on secondary timing chain tensioner, also the primary chain and tensioner, look for any excess wear on all the cam drive components. Wiggle the VVT device to check for looseness or excessive slop.

You may be getting a knock sensor fault because the timing chain is making noise in the sensor is picking them up thinking it's an ignition knock so it tries to adjust the timing to get rid of it but to knock never goes away so it sets the code

Hello and maybe I can help.

The code P1111 is a readiness code in which no repair is neccessary. For the knock sensor code look at the passenger side knock sensor connector which is clipped to the thermostat housing. I see issues with those connectors. They sometimes come loose or the pins break out of the connector. If the connection is clean and secure then you need to replace that sensor. I also see issues with the sensors if the engin ehas ever overheated.

Ok sounds good. Let me know how you make out. The sensors are difficult to diagnose without the Jag service tool but if you have a meter or scope you can measure the frequency on the grey wire. 0 Hz is no knock and 2-20k Hz indicates the sensor is reading a knock.
