im afraid not.
that gearbox u have in it now - always did change up and down - this is normal. a pain but normal. its the fabled old jatco box. jag thought was good idea to use auto box from a country that has rep for making best parts and also - uses auto boxes in there own country - Japan massively. Alas - it was a bad idea. Jag suffered, Land rover Freelander suffered, and so did the Rover 75.
The 6 speed box will not operate with your vehicles engine management system, and also the harness link up will be totally different, as will the linkages, fittings etc etc.
only way out of this - is buy a later car im afraid.
