For the entertainment system it sounds like you have a bad NAV module. The one module goes off the fiber optic network you will lose all functions and you may have a flashing 50...51 in the green LCD display under the touch screen. You can first try to disconnect the negative battery terminal then disconnect the module in the trunk to see if that brings it back. The NAV module is the same for the XJ, S, and X Type. For the transmission problem you will need to have the TCM adaptations cleared and the software reprogrammed. This will have to be done at the dealer or shop that has the Jaguar IDS.
