Customer: i have a 99 jaguar xjr that keeps throwing a code for random cylinder misfire. It has singled out several times the num 1 cylinder. i have replaced the coil and spark plug. i can clear the code and the car goes back to running normal. do u have any suggestions to solve the problem?

Is the code P0300? With the new coil and plug can you still pinpoint it to cylinder 1?

It sounds like you have a vacuum leak. On the supercharged engines the bellows between the top plate and the ducts will leak which can cause the rough running and those codes. Try spraying around those bellows with carb cleaner to see if there is a chnage in engine rpm. Also look at the plastic breather hoses on both valve covers to make sure they are not leaking. As far as the valet there are two ways to get it out of valet. You can either open the trunk with a master key or use the remote.

the key will unlock the doors but not the trunk. when the button is pressed for thr trunk on dash it only gives me the valet mode signal

You will need a master (black) key for the trunk or use the fob remote to get out of valet mode.
