Hyster 60.

Customer Question

On a hyster 60...We are getting an oil leak, like small puddle over night kinda thing, that seems to be coming out of starter. We removed the started and sure enough the starter is saturated with oil, which we are assuming is hydraulic oil. The housing under the flywheel seems to be pooled up with oil...the hydraulic pump seems to turn straight off of the flywheel which the starter also turns. We are scratching our heads, is the hydraulic pump leaking into that housing or something? We are not experienced mechanics.

The housing is a wet clutch housing, the starter has to be a sealed starter. Your starter rebuilder can install the seals in the starter to seal it, and you need a mounting gasket on the starter flange to block. It is typical Hyster wet housing, there is no problem other than your oil leak!
