Hi,

I'm Lucy, and I'd be happy to answer your questions today.

Quite honestly, the fact that she's emailing to ask for money makes it extremely unlikely that she was ever on the plane. It's very common for scam artists to strike up friendships with people in Australia, UK, Canada, and US and try to talk them out of getting money. They pretend they're coming to visit, but something always goes wrong, and they always wind up asking for money. Usually before they pretend to be getting on the plane, but also after.

The fact that she would go back to Singapore rather than Ghana doesn't make a lot of sense, and also makes it seem more like a scam.

The staring point is to ask her to send a copy of her plane ticket, receipt for purchasing it, and any documentation she got when they turned her away. You can try calling the airlines to see if they'll confirm whether she was on the flight, but most probably will not without a court order. You can also try contacting customs. It's possible someone there will at least tell you whether a person by that name attempted entry. That's your starting point.

If you can tell me anything else about this person, I may be able to give you more information.

But there's a lot of information not there that could be useful: how did you meet? Did she ask for money before making this trip? What is the nature of your relationship? Have you ever met in person?

ok s he came by british air ways ticket number 007330145311 leavin g ghana on23 feb arriving at perth airport on25 feb if she did come she was stoped on her return trip home i have no info on that but she flew by british airways word traveller ticket to perth n itoiflight qf0078
Immigration Lawyer: Lucy, Esq., Attorney replied 3 months ago

Then the starting point would be if British Airways is willing to confirm that information. If she sent you any sort of confirmation, you may also want to compare it to photos of what their notices/confirmations typically look like.

I will say, though, that the flight time from Ghana to Perth should be about 19 hours. It shouldn't have taken two days to make the trip. That's another reason to be suspicious of her story.

Need help with immigration (gc) supplement J. Here is my
yes Here is my situation: We received our EAD in October 2014. Left the petitioner company after 180 days from approval. In September 2016, we opened an LLC in my spouse's name and my wife became a w2 employee in July 2017. I was employed at a mid-sized during this time. However i lost my job in April 2018. I discussed with my immigration attorney and she said that I could work as an employee for my company. So I started working as a w2 employee in our own company effective May 1st, 2018. This week I received RFE since my priority date will be current in July.My question is: 1. Can I continue to be an employee of our company and use that as my bona-fide employer? (Attorney suggesting against it since the company is owned by the spouse and has the same address as my residential address) 2. Or I need to become a 1099 contractor and mention self-employment in supplement J? - This is suggested by my attorney who filed my GC. However, another attorney is saying that this is only applicable for EB1 candidates. Not sure why she said that. Couldn't find anything relevant anywhere. 3. Or should I look for a job at another company? - The other consulting attorney is suggesting to use another employer and fill out the supplement j mentioning that this will be my employer once I get GC. … read more

I am currently on H1b status with approved I-140 (got approved in 2015) with priority date as March 2012. I had H1b for 10 years now and I am planning to move to India by end of this month before my H1b expires. My H1b expires on June 30 2018 and I am leaving for good to my home country (India) for a few years. I will be leaving on June 27th 2018. As soon as I move to India , my employer will be withdrawing my I-140.1. I would like to know what are my chances/issues that I'll face when I apply for h1b from offshore, provided my employer withdraws my I-140 after I leave to India? 2. Also do I fall under H1b quota again if I apply from offshore in the future? If I do not fall under quota, what is the time limit to file my h1b from offshore to avoid falling under H1b quota? 3. Is there a way for me to check if the employer had withdrawn my I-140 or not? 4. Please advise on anything that I need to before I leave to India? … read more
