The airport of my husband's country of residence (Guatemala)
Hello- the airport of my husband's country of residence (Guatemala) closed the day before his flight due to Covid-19. His 90 day stay (He has dual citizenship with Italy) expired on March 18, 2020 and he left the U.S. on April 14, 2020 which was an overstay of less than 30 days because he had no way of leaving the country due to Guatemalan airport being closed. We both called CBP and USCIS multiple times and were pending every single day and they kept cancelling his appointments and not giving me a resolution and everything was closed. They kept giving us the run around and we went in circles numerous times because no one knew what to do in the moment in March. He had to leave to go to work once he was able to get back to his country and couldn't wait around not knowing when CBP/USCIS would offer resolutions. We have the e-mails and documentation of us trying to get this cleared up and of his flights. We've been trying for months to get this cleared up and no one has helped. Now his ESTA renewal got denied because of this and he can't enter the U.S. to be with me- his wife. He's entered and exited the U.S. multiple times and never overstayed and this only occurred because the airport closed down, and he literally couldn't leave. Every agency refers us to someone else and no one helps. My husband and I would like to start the Green Card process and we don't want this to get in our way and we're wondering if this will be a barrier if not cleared up. Thank you. … read more
