The clips don't hold pads in place, they are just anti rattle clips. But the clips sit into position first then when clips are sitting in position you slide in pads from the side. Here is a picture with replacement instructions for pads. If you are really having a hard time I'd just leave the clips out, they really aren't that important. My goal is to provide 5 star service so please let me know if you have any questions. Thanks.
