I have a 2014 hyundai sonata 89K miles - my manual says i never have to change the automatic transaxle fluid - is this true?

Mechanic's Assistant: Just to clarify, which fluid are you talking about? And what color and consistency is it?

From what ive been reading online transaxle = transmission ?

Mechanic's Assistant: Are you fixing your Sonata yourself? What have you tried so far?

No i am not

Mechanic's Assistant: Anything else you want the mechanic to know before I connect you?

No that is it, just curious if i need to change it or not

Hi im kevin you are correct there is no recommended interval for relacement.however the way the cover this isnt clear .The lifetime fluid is for normal conditions but the conditions that the manufacturer sets as normal are limiting .ive taken from manual

Follow Normal Maintenance Schedule if the vehicle is usually operated where none of the following conditions apply. If any of the following conditions apply, follow
Maintenance Under Severe Usage Conditions.
• Repeated short distance driving. **Running short errands regularly everyday during lunchtime or during evenings/weekends?**
• Driving in dusty conditions or sandy areas.
• Extensive use of brakes. **Morning/evening stop-and-go traffic?**
• Driving in areas where salt or other corrosive materials are being used. **Wintertime in northern/Northeast/Mid-Atlantic/snowbelt/Midwest regions?***
• Driving on rough or muddy roads. **Snowy and rainy areas tend to have less than smooth roads...pot holes...?**
• Driving in mountainous areas.
• Extended periods of idling or low speed operation. **Morning/evening stop-and-go traffic?**
• Driving for a prolonged period in cold temperatures and/or extremely humid climates. **Winter or Summer commuting?**
• More than 50% driving in heavy city traffic during hot weather

We always recommend that the oil is replaced at around 100,000 just to be safe
