I have an 06 sonata it backfired & blew the flex pipe apart, it immediately went into limp mode shut it off restart & new till I floored the gas pedal than 4,000 rpms back to limp mode

Mechanic's Assistant: Where exactly do you think the noise is coming from? And how long has this been going on?

Ever since it’s been giving me all kinds of crankshaft sensor codes

Mechanic's Assistant: Are you fixing your Sonata yourself? What have you tried so far?

I’ve since replaced the flex pipe the crankshaft & camshaft sensors & its still do the same thing going into limp mode when accelerating past 4,000 rpms

Welcome, I'm Chris (aka-Moose).

  • WORK TIME, I am here 7 days a week but not all hours of the day, do not worry I will respond.
  • FEES, I am a user of the website like you, not an employee. Any fee or account questions need to be addressed to the website.
  • PHONE CALLS are automatically offered by the website. I or another may take the call if you request one.
  • UPLOADED LINKS, if I upload dropbox links, without the phone app use the box on the top right for direct download.
  • RATING ANSWERS, please let me know what you need from me so you are pleased with my answer.

For an engine to backfire, the ignition timing has to be off, a valve stuck open, or the cam and crank have jumped time. Can you do a compression test on each cylinder?

Now that I have posted a partial or complete answer, you will see you can rate me. The deposit you have already paid is not transferred to me until you rate me. I would like to receive nothing less than 5-star excellent ratings. So if we are not there yet, please reply and let me help more. If you're not pleased, let me know because rating bad does not result in a refund, there are better options. Rating now will not close this post nor prevent replying. Thanks Chris

The engine runs smooth as can be & if I drive normal or relaxed I can go through all the rpms & speeds beautifully. Truth be told I hollowed out the catylitic converter after it clogged about 2 years ago but it idles like clockwork & runs smooth as an arrow. It only backfired after I was running late to work one very cold morning. After that now every time I step on her a little heavy that’s when it goes into limp mode

Only codes that ever come up is crankshaft sensor malfunction & crankshaft something not learned... so I replace camshaft, crankshaft & the flex pipe that blew open on exhaust

Can I get those code numbers?
