In July the dealership replaced the fuel sensors and ever

Customer Question

In July the dealership replaced the fuel sensors and ever since then I am getting gas fumes in side the car. Especially when the tank is full. I have taken it back twice and they say they do not smell any gas.
JA: Are you certain it's the fuel pressure sensor that's in need of attention? What about the fuel rail? Have you checked it yet?
Customer: The fuel gage was no longer registering tank levels. Engine light on dash came on.
JA: What is the model/year of your Hyundai?
Customer: 2008 santa fe. FYI: my Dad had to have the sensors replaced on his 2009 santa fe too, but he did not have fume issue afterward.
JA: Are you fixing your Santa Fe yourself? What have you tried so far?
Customer: It is at the Hyundai dealership. They say that they have checked the sensors and the seals as well and that there are no leaks.
JA: Anything else you want the mechanic to know before I connect you?
Customer: not that I can think of

It sounds like they either left a hose loose on top of the fuel tank or the "O" ring for the tank unit is bad. They may have even crushed it when they tightened the tank unit by mistake. Whatever happened, they need to check it out and fix their mistake.

Thanks, Ron

Hi, I’m just following up with you to see if there are any more
questions you may have.

Customer: replied 10 months ago.
The dealership just called me. They said they pressure tested the fuel system and there are no leaks. Purge valve is working and all seals are sealing. Now what??
Expert:  rpmdiag replied 10 months ago.

Either then vent valve or purge valve can be defective as well as the computer if the valves are good.

thanks again and please remember to rate me. I don't get credit for helping you until you rate me.

Thanks again, Ron

touch your vehicle from where we’re at, so your understanding of
that is greatly appreciated. There are no magical or miraculous
answers, but we do our best to guide you in the right direction.
