Old thermostat white rodger...

Old thermostat white rodger, 6 wires this include the much desired C wire. I want to install a new smart Honeywell T5. Most wires seem straight forward but the old white rodger bridge (jumper) between the e/w and the w2. the Honeywell t5 say I don't need jumpers but then they included a small white wire that sure looks like it could be used to bridge say a w to w2. Should I do this? (currently the Honeywell does turn on and will set up but the AC compressor is not turning on. It does work with old thermostat.)

Contractor's Assistant: Just to clarify, do you think this is a larger HVAC problem, or something specific to the thermostat?

Thermostat

Contractor's Assistant: Do you plan on doing the work yourself?

Yes

Contractor's Assistant: Anything else we should know to help you best?

Just want to know if I should bridge the w to w2 in the new Honeywell T5

You will not need a jumper on the R wires. but unless you have a separate E and Aux you WILL need a jumper between aux and e so elements come on in aux and emergency modes
