If you look on your heater's access panel or circuit board the trouble codes should be listed for number 21

Any chance we can pick up the pace?
HVAC Technician: David Bowden, General Contractor replied 1 month ago

Okay from researching both the American Standard and Trane Freedom 95 trouble codes, the single red flash is normal and is gathering information within the system (usually about every 20 seconds).

The green flashes (depending on slow or fast) is either a call for heat, or no call for heat. Basically that means there may be a problem with the thermostat rather than the heater itself. There may be a different code on the wiring schematic itself it you look again.

Please note I have been waiting as long as you have and it takes time to research your information as well as type in a response, so please have a little more patience with me while I try to answer your question, thanks.

ok
how do we determine if it is the thermostat
any test for that
HVAC Technician: David Bowden, General Contractor replied 1 month ago

The easiest way to verify it is at the heater itself by jumping the 2 wires that should turn the heater on, usually red (24v) and white (Heat)

Ask Your Own HVAC Question
Customer reply replied 1 month ago
third wire between red and white?
HVAC Technician: David Bowden, General Contractor replied 1 month ago

If the heater comes to life and starts working, then the problem is the thermostat or the wires between the heater and thermostat.

Ask Your Own HVAC Question
HVAC Technician: David Bowden, General Contractor replied 1 month ago

only 2 wires not 3

thanks
HVAC Technician: David Bowden, General Contractor replied 1 month ago

are you able to try that or do you need to contact a service provider to diagnose and repair the problem?

I will give a shot
HVAC Technician: David Bowden, General Contractor replied 1 month ago

Okay, hopefully everything will be an easy repair, I understand it is cold where you are and it can be very frustrating when heaters don't work. If you need further assistance, let me know, happy to try and help if possible.
