I have a 8085C model and the down temp button will not work, the up does.

Sorry to hear that you are having trouble with your thermostat.The first expert is correct that you will need to replace the thermostat.I recommend staying away from RiteTemp junk,buy a Honeywell or Robertshaw brand.You can get a comparable thermostat at Lowes or Home Depot for around 40 bucks.

I recommend the Honeywell RTH6350.
