Give me a bit more information.Do you also have an outdoor ac unit and if so what is model on that?Is it a heat pump? Do you have a multi meter so we can do some troubleshooting?

we have an outdoor ac unit. I cant identify the model. I have a multi meter. It is a two story house. Goodman heats upstairs and first floor. radiant heat on separate thermostat for basement
HVAC Technician: airheatman, HVAC Technician replied 1 month ago

OK the reason I am asking is the air handler can be used with an air conditioner or with a heat pump.Which you have determines where we need to start troubleshooting. There should be a label on outside of that unit

appears to be heating on second floor but not first floor. I will go outside and get a model number

Ask Your Own HVAC Question
Customer reply replied 1 month ago
one red to RH and another red to RC. I will change to electric now.
HVAC Technician: airheatman, HVAC Technician replied 1 month ago

WE should not have 2 reds under normal circunstances.Do you have a transformer added in the outdoor unit?

Ask Your Own HVAC Question
HVAC Technician: airheatman, HVAC Technician replied 1 month ago

It has probably been 25 years since Goodman used a two transformer system *seperate transformer in indoor and outdoor )

Ask Your Own HVAC Question
Customer reply replied 1 month ago
how can I verify seperate transformer?
HVAC Technician: airheatman, HVAC Technician replied 1 month ago

Look in the outdoor unit . See if the red control wire in outdoor unit .Tell me how many wires run between indoor unit and outdoor unit and what they connect to in outdoor unit.If there is a transformer out there you will see it when you open service panel

Ask Your Own HVAC Question
Customer reply replied 1 month ago

We need to find where that second red is fed from.

Did you have a separate rh an rc in the very beginning?

What did you find in outdoor unit?

Ask Your Own HVAC Question

here are more
HVAC Technician: airheatman, HVAC Technician replied 1 month ago

Looks like only two wires from inside (yellow and blue) and no transformer there

Ask Your Own HVAC Question
Customer reply replied 1 month ago
I cut the built in jumper wire (RC RH red) in Sensi
HVAC Technician: airheatman, HVAC Technician replied 1 month ago

Not necessary.

There are only two wires from indoor yellow which comes from Y at thermostat and blue which is common from the transformer in air handler.

The only time you would use both an RC and an RH is on units with separate transformers inside and outside.

This is going to require a bit of time in tracing wires and determining what is going on.I am about to have to leave for the weekend.

Did changing thermostat to Electric seem to help?

Ask Your Own HVAC Question
Customer reply replied 1 month ago
no change with electric. since I cut the jumper should I put RC and RH in same connector?
HVAC Technician: airheatman, HVAC Technician replied 1 month ago

You really should not have two reds. You need to determine where the two individual red come from.We should only have one and it should come from transformer in the air handler.
