Just purchased a Honeywell non programable thermostat. Had 5 wires on old termostat Y G R C and W Connected 1st 4 but there is no designated place for the W wire. Help

Contractor's Assistant: Just to clarify, do you think this is a larger HVAC problem, or something specific to the thermostat?

Just purchased a Honeywell non programable thermostat for home. Had 5 wires on the old thermostat Y G R C and W. Connected the first 4 but there is no designated place for the W wire on the new thermostat. HELP

Contractor's Assistant: Do you plan on doing the work yourself?

I have it all listalled except the W wire

Contractor's Assistant: Anything else we should know to help you best?

Just should I use the W wire if so where should it go

That is a heat pump thermostat. You will need a standard or conventional thermostat for gas /ac

In short...I am sorry, but that thermostat will not work for you.
