Customer Question
Just upgraded a basic...

Just upgraded a basic Ace mechanical thermostat for my wall heater to get programability since I am there only a few hours a day. i bought a Honeywell rth6360. There are only two wires which I put in R & Rc. I've gone thru the programming twice and can get it to turn the heat on. If I touch the two wires together, it starts the heater. Just need it to act like a simple switch at the right times.

Contractor's Assistant: Did you double-check the thermostat's settings? And what about the filters?

It's a really old gas fired wall heater. Probably from the fifties. No filters and went thru all the settings. Wondering if I have it wired properly. Just has a red & blue wire.

Contractor's Assistant: Do you plan on doing the work yourself?

Yup.

I'm not home so I won't be able to try it out until later tonight. I'll let you know after that. Does it matter which wire goes to which terminal?

That T-stat is not applicable for that heater, Its for low voltage furnace, you need a 240 volt t-stat
