Customer Question
I get 7 flashes...

I get 7 flashes on my luxaire residential unit

Contractor's Assistant: Did you double-check the thermostat? And what about the unit's filters?

I checked the filters are slightly dirty the thermostat has a click sounding as soon as we increase the set point

Contractor's Assistant: Do you plan on doing the work yourself?

I checked the lame sensor and it is clean not a lot carbonation checked ingnitor looks continuos did not check for continuity the exhaust flue is not obstructed and the system resets upon cycling power to the unit yes i plan to work on it

Contractor's Assistant: Anything else we should know to help you best?

Normally you can smell if bad inducer motor, or you can see a broken ignitor or bad flame sensor. afte cycling the power it works for a while then it has the seven flashes any suggestions

Welcome to Just Answer, my name is ***** ***** I will do my best to help you with your issue. If my initial response doesn’t answer your question then let me know and we can continue our conversation.

If the unit fires up then goes out in seconds you need to clean the flame sensor as a first step. It's not carbonation but oxidation on the sensor that causes a weak flame signal (among other things). If the unit doesn't fire up then you need to look more closely at the igniter. An ohm meter test is the best method but a visual inspection can also work. Even the tiniest flaw is cause to replace it. A little white powder is ok.

After system reset the furnace will go through more then several cycles before the error code comes back so it is intermitten
But I will ohm the lgnitor
HVAC Technician: Rick, HVAC Supervisor replied 7 months ago

Intermittent issues could be either the flame sensor or the igniter. Could also be a gas vale problem. The only way to pin it down if cleaning the sensor and testing the igniter prove unsuccessful, is to catch it when it happens.

I go through the check down and hopefully it is not the gas valve
HVAC Technician: Rick, HVAC Supervisor replied 7 months ago

It would be the gas valve if you have a glowing igniter and power to the valve but no main burner ignition. This is one you'll need to catch in the act.
