Contractor's Assistant: Just to clarify, do you think this is a larger HVAC problem, or something specific to the thermostat?

I'm not sure but I don't think it's a thermostat problem

Contractor's Assistant: Do you plan on doing the work yourself?

I would depend on the problem

Contractor's Assistant: Anything else we should know to help you best?

There's probably a lot that I could tell you but what info would be helpful?

Hi I am Gaztech1, a independent technician, I will assist you with your issue.

Don't forget to rate the 5 star rating AT THE TOP OF PAGE if we are done. this will credit me for assisting you.

The furnace is probably shuting off on high limit (getting to hot) then it cools down with blower fan then starts again.

Does this sound like its the case

Possible causes

  1. Cloged filter
  2. dirty blower wheel
  3. dirty AC coil
  4. restricted return air grilles (ex. furniture covering air glilles)

Could it be a bad high limit? If it is. Where would I look for the high limit sensor? I will look into all of your suggestions. Thanks.
