Ihave a 15 year old trane thermostat I am replacing.I purchased a Honeywell rth111 to replace it with.I am not sure about the wiring of the new one.Can you help

Contractor's Assistant: Just to clarify, do you think this is a larger HVAC problem, or something specific to the thermostat?

It is for sure the thermostat as the system works fine

On the old trane there is a slot g for green wire-b for blue wire-red for red wire-w1 for white wire and y for the yellow wire.the new Honeywell has slots labeled b o g y y one for not used -a R and a RC

Ok the big difference is the blue wire that was on B in old thermostat gets taped off...we will not use that wire in the new thermostat.

Then you put red to R

White to W

Green to G

Yellow to Y

Can you try this now?

Also very important to turn furnace power off so we do not short the control system
