It is about 7 yrs old. It goes through the purging and ignition then to post purge with out starting. I cleaned the burner and vacuumed and washed the inside with water. I checked the intake and exhaust outside and you can feel air and suction from them.

OK MOST LIKELY IT IS THE BLOWER THAT IS BAD. 9 TIMES OUT OF 10 IT IS WHEN THAT HAPPENS. CHECK THE WIRES AND CONNECTORS GOING FROM THE CIRCUIT BOARD TO THE MOTOR IF THEY ARE ALL GOOD THEN REPLACE THE MOTOR. I have a carrier 58 MVP natural gas furnace. The furnace was not heating the house and temperatures got into the 50s on Saturday. The blower was cycling on and off and I had error codes 4 short and 2 Long. On Sunday still the same but error codes 2 short and 3 long. Our repairman did come today and found condensation water backed up in the furnace. He drained a lot of water (more than 1/2 gallon) and cleaned out the trap. The furnace is working ONLY on low burner and low fan speed now. After 16 minutes of low burner it should kick into high burner and high blower speed. It will only run on low burner and low blower speed. The technician did use a jumper wire and the high burner and high fan speed did work and we left the jumper on to get the house up to temperature. Currently the furnace is running on low burner and low blower. The outside temperature is moderate now only 35 degrees and the house temperature is maintaining our requested 68 degrees. Looking on the internet I have seen this issue posted but no solutions. The technician is still researching this with a Carrier representative. My hunch is it may be due to the water backed up from the burners?? What are your thoughts on how to get the high burners and high blower to work automatically after the normal 16 minute period of low burner and low blower. There are no error lights on the furnace now just the continuous solid white light indicating all is well. We always run our carrier thermostat on continuous fan. The unit was installed in 2005 and had not problems. We also have a carrier heat pump which we use only for air conditioning in the warm weather. No issues with the heat pump and no issues until today with the carrier 58 MVP natural gas furnace. I have seen this issue posted on the internet but without any solution. … read more
