Customer Question
Just replaced 2 htg...

Just replaced 2 htg elements and upper and lower thermostats on an A.O.Smith water heater. Breaker is now tripping. I cannot find a manual that specifies the wiring connections to the thermostats, which is where I think the problem is arising. Any ideas?

Contractor's Assistant: Just to clarify, do you think this is a larger HVAC problem, or something specific to the thermostat?

Specific to thermostat.

Contractor's Assistant: Do you plan on doing the work yourself?

Yes.

Contractor's Assistant: Anything else we should know to help you best?

What I need is a wiring diagram for the thermostats. I think i have the wires improperly connected since the breaker is tripping.
