I have a trane...

I have a trane baysensooo8b thermostat, i replaced it with a Honeywell programmable thermostat. Honeywell will not turn on. so i decided to go back to the Trane unit. problem, the wiring on the trane indicates 1,2,3,4,5. i did not take picture of the wiring. Other than the red wire which i will say is number 1, which number does the white, green, yellow and blue wire connect to?

Contractor's Assistant: Just to clarify, do you think this is a larger HVAC problem, or something specific to the thermostat?

Hermostat

Contractor's Assistant: Do you plan on doing the work yourself?

Yes

Contractor's Assistant: Anything else we should know to help you best?

No that is it.

Hello,

I logged a few hrs ago and saw you had not been helped, thus the question if you still needed help or not.

These 2 systems atre not compatible...the number format is for dc voltage and the letters are for 24v ac...they do not work with each other...

On your old thermostat....it was 1,2,3,4 etc.....now do you have access to the heating cooling this wires to?

Also disregard any computer generated offers for other services...this type of problem can easily be handled in this format.

Now, whereas R,G,Y,W are common to color code the dc voltage (numbers) is not. It was up to whoever ran the wires as to what color went to what number.

The only issue is Trane has numbers in the unit and the numbers in thermostat....1 in unit goes to 1 in thermostat, 2 to 2 etc.

So what needs to be done is the other end of thermostat wire inside unit looked at...then write down what color goes to what number.

I know you likely thought when moving wires from numbers to letters just to use color to letter. But that is not how it works.

We have 2 totally different control systems
