HVAC home unit, compressor just topped with refrigerant, A/C

Customer Question

HVAC home unit, compressor just topped with refrigerant, A/C Unit starts cooling but fan stops working after a short time. Capacitor changed last season. So fan motor starts but then stops and compressor then looses efficiency.
JA: Are you an HVAC professional?
Customer: No, just home owner. Electronics tech for over 30 years.
JA: Do you plan on doing the work yourself?
Customer: If possible. I think it is probably the motor. Unit over 6 years old.
JA: Anything else we should know to help you best?
Customer: When fan running cold air is great. Service Tech topped off refrigerant 2 days ago. Unit was running ~ 90 minutes and still 4 degrees from set point on thermostat.

My name is***** think you already have it figured it out...the motor is running and overheating then shutting down on thermal. If the motor wouldnt start I would think capacitor ..but since it does start and then goes off later it points to motor.

Is the fan really hot when it shuts down?
