My Ruud contractor has paired a 31/2 ton Ruud outdoor unit seer 16 with a 4 ton seer 16 air handler. Says ruud does not make 3 1/2 ton air seer 16 air handlers. Is this acceptable pairing?
JA: Did you double-check the thermostat's settings? And what about the filters?
Customer: my ac contracter has paired a 3 1/12 ton rudd seer 16 with a 4 ton seer 16 air handler. Says rudd does not make a 3 1/2 seer 16 air handler. Is this acceptable pairing?

Hello,

My name is Billy. This is actually a good combination. Oversizing the indoor blower 1/2 ton adds to the efficiency of the package. Even if a 3.5 ton air handler were available, it would still be a better combination to go with the 4 ton inside.

This is not only acceptable but is desired.

It sounds like a great match to me.
