Three days ago the water lines in our house started

Customer Question

Three days ago the water lines in our house started vibrating. I didn't know at that time that the vibration was the water lines. I shut the panel off at the main breaker. but the vibration was still there. I'm on city water so I had someone come out and he told me it was my tankless water heater. he shut the water heater off and the vibrating stopped. What could cause the vibration which occurred 24 7 even when no water was running?
JA: How long has this been going on? And how severe is the problem?
Customer: three days it sounded like a compressor was running.
JA: Do you plan on doing the work yourself?
Customer: yes but it depends on what work is needed.
JA: Anything else we should know to help you best?
Customer: not that I know of

Is there anything leaking in the house like a toilet? There is an easy way to check. Do you know where your water meter is?
