Greetings, tell me if it is the indoor coil that ices or the outdoor coil.
I need to know about how old the unit is.
Assuming the coils are clean, a small refrigerant leak will result an icing condition, that will start on one corner of the cooling coil and work its way with frost across the entire coil.
If its blowing hot air and icing at the same time, that is usually bad heat pump controls, in which case it will be the coil on the back end of the unit that is icing.
Let me know what you can about that, we can go from there
Thanks, it has a refrigerant leak that needs to be repaired, $350+ job, worth it though on an AC that large, and with only sight use,
Tell me which direction you are from the center of the nearest larger town or city and I will see if I can find a reasonable repair shop for you that does house calls on those,
click here please, this is a well rated outfit, and in business there for 40 years, the odds are very good that they will treat you well
Let me know how it goes,
