Can you tell me where each wire went on old thermostat? And model of new thermostat?

Customer: replied 2 months ago.
No, I had a picture, but the wiring was so bad with the cracked and discolored insulation, that by the time I prepped them for the new thermostat, they looked entirely different. That is why I am looking for help. The new thermostat is a Honeywell 2300

You will have to look to see what colors are ran between units but here is how they go based on colors in unit.

Air handler Red to R with a jumper to RC at thermostat

Air handler Brown (tape off) at thermostat but run to contactor in outdoor

Air Handler Green and black to G at thermostat

Air handler white/blue and white black tied together and to W at thermostat

Yellow from thermostat to contactor in outdoor unit.

THis is for an air conditioner on,non heat pump. Get me model on outdoor and I will verify you have an air conditioner and not a heat pump.

Here is what the wire colors look. Most schematics and diagrams offer little if any

I am suspecting your outdoor is a heat pump since you have o many wires. If so the 2300 is not a good replacement.Notice it has no EMER Heat selection.Give me model on outdoor unit so I can verify. The HM2417 is air handler

Customer: replied 2 months ago.
The new thermostat is a Honeywell
RTH221B. The old thermostat is a Rodgers White 1f73.

I can reconnect the White Rodgers. I just need a color conversion and I am good. I was out shopping earlier.
Expert:  airheatman replied 2 months ago.

OK the 2300 is not compatible .You need a 2 stage heat/1 stage cool thermostat.ee excerpt from manual

Expert:  airheatman replied 2 months ago.

If you want to reconnect the old we can do that, but I need a picture showing me where those wires connect at other end.

The problem is that their is no industry standard. For example one tech may use pink for common where another text ay use pink for ac and blue for common. Guessing can cause you to do a lot of damage to control board and transformer.
