Welcome to Just Answer, my name is ***** ***** I will do my best to help you with your issue. If my initial response doesn’t answer your question then let me know and we can continue our conversation.

You're describing delayed ignition. Most common cause of this is improperly gapped electrodes. I need the brand of the burner to advise you on electrode gap setting. There are other possibilites some of which you can't address without very expensive test equipment but the electrodes are a good place to start.

could the air tube and nozzle play a part in the hard start

You could have a brand new nozzle that's bad (bad spray pattern) but I'd adjust the electrodes first, then replace the nozzle next. Nozzle assemby position in relation to the burner head and the type of head are also variables but are typically addressed when the burner is set up initially. These settings are to involved to spell out here. I'd have to refer you to the burner manual.

ok, original was ,75/ 80 B. B being solid spray right, I bought 2 didn't matter, I will try electrodes. I have pump pressure at 100. small furnace. any last thoughts

That's about all you can do without test equipment except for testing the ignition transformer. You can check the transformer with a heavy (plastic handle) screwdriver, shut off the oil valve on the pump and put the blade of the screwdriver on one terminal of the transformer and hold the tip 1/2" away from the other terminal and hit the reset button. If the arc doesn't jump the gap then the transformer is weak and should be replaced.
