I have a error message that says check ash pan
JA: How old is the appliance? Have you gotten error messages before?
Customer: it is about 8 years old and I have had service on it once for an igniter replacement
JA: Do you plan on doing the work yourself?
Customer: Well, I would like to do it myself'
JA: Anything else we should know to help you best?
Customer: it goes into selfclean mode when I try to get it to work

Hello, either one of the high temperature limit switches, or other safety switch is tripped (open) or the printed circuit board is bad.

Diagnosis is involved. If you have a multi meter and are good with appliance repair send me a close up photo of the wiring diagram glued to the service panel, photo must be close up, well lit, and exceedingly well focused.
