Customer Question

I''m working on a Carrier installed in the 60s. The model is 38AD012500, do you know what the tonnage is? Tom, thanks
JA: I'll do all I can to help. How long have you been dealing with this?
Customer: it's at our church , so since 1975.
JA: Do you plan on doing the work yourself?
Customer: I'm an hvac contractor, and there are 2 of these units which over the years have been converted to R 22 from R500. They have worked well with few repairs but I have lost the compressor in one. I believe it's a 10 or 12 ton but since I probably will consider replacing it, I need to be sure and my Carrier distributor doesn't seem to have records that far back.
JA: Are you an HVAC professional?
Customer: yes.
JA: Anything else we should know to help you best?
Customer: Carrier has a compressor for that unit but I'm looking at all the options.

It appears the unit is probably considered a 10 ton.

Depending on the fan coil it is matched to, it will produce between 9.16 and 10.83 tons.
