Customer Question

thanks. I uninstalled a white rogers thermostat and labeled wires as they were unconnected. I have G - Green R - red , Y - yellow, w--white, w2 - brown, c - blue I purchased a Hunter 44157 and doesn't match codes
JA: Just to clarify, do you think this is a larger HVAC problem, or something specific to the thermostat?
Customer: thermostat
JA: Do you plan on doing the work yourself?
Customer: yes
JA: Anything else we should know to help you best?
Customer: where does W2 go, and I think C does not get connected. Correct?

It sounds like you can't use the Hunter you bought. A W2 lead indicates you have a 2 stage furnace. Since the Hunter has no W2 terminal it is made for only a single stage unit.
