Customer Question

Heater burners will not light....have gone through the restart procedure listed on cover, does not seem to work
JA: I'll do all I can to help. How long have you been dealing with this?
Customer: Just started this morning
JA: Do you plan on doing the work yourself?
Customer: What I can....
JA: Anything else we should know to help you best?
Customer: I did the restart thing this morning and it worked the first time, have tried it two other times today and will not work, the thermostat clicks when I turn the heat down to lowest setting and it will click when I set at desired temp, but will not come on
JA: Did you double-check the thermostat's settings? And what about the filters?
Customer: Have not checked the filter, what do you mean thermostat settings

Welcome to Just Answer, my name is ***** ***** I will do my best to help you with your issue. First I’ll need some more info so I have a more complete picture of you situation.

What is the brand and model number of your unit?

Customer: replied 11 months ago.
It's a goodman...have no idea where to find model #
Expert:  Rick replied 11 months ago.

It's on the rating tag which is usually inside the burner compartment. If it's not on the front of the panel look on the sides inside the compartment. You'll have to remove the burner compartment panel first

Customer: replied 11 months ago.
131m0002p. ?? Does that sound right
Expert:  Rick replied 11 months ago.

No, it should start with a G. The BTU rating for the unit will also be on the tag

Expert:  Rick replied 11 months ago.

Ok, give me a few to look up the specs for this model

Expert:  Rick replied 11 months ago.

What happens when it starts up? does it (the small draft inducer fan on the front) start up? are you getting a flashing LED on the control board inside the blower compartment? if so how many times does it flash before it pauses and repeats?

Customer: replied 11 months ago.
It will not start up at all
Expert:  Rick replied 11 months ago.

Ok, there are a few things we can try to troubleshoot this it will involve some minor wiring (jumping the thermostat terminals) and voltage testing if you have a meter to test. Do you have a meter? are you up for this troubleshooting?

Customer: replied 11 months ago.
No meter....think am wasting my time and yours...
Expert:  Rick replied 11 months ago.

Well, if it won't work all we can do is troubleshoot. If you'd rather not then you'll have to call in a pro to come out and fix it. But first are you sure you have power to the unit? can you see a small LED lit inside the blower compartment? If not double check the breaker and any switch near the furnace.

Customer: replied 11 months ago.
There is a small red bulb is that it???
Expert:  Rick replied 11 months ago.

If it's inside the main blower compartment then yes that's it and you have power so there's nothing more you can do yourself

Customer: replied 11 months ago.
OK thanks anyway..

You're welcome
