Customer Question

I have a Klimaire KSILO18-H219 18,000 Btu unit that is showing an "E1" code. Unit is energized and when turned on, the louvres operate. Nothing else happens. What is my problem?
JA: Did you double-check the thermostat? And what about the unit's filters?
Customer: Checked the thermostat and replaced new batteries in the remote. Filter OK.
JA: Do you plan on doing the work yourself?
Customer: Yes, I am a licensed electrician and this is my personal unit.
JA: Anything else we should know to help you best?
Customer: Where do I go from here?

This is a communication error between the indoor and outdoor units

Customer: replied 9 months ago.
How do I fix it?
Expert:  WCohn replied 9 months ago.

Your phone request was denied by the system. Try shutting off all breakers for the system waiting 30 seconds and turning back on. Also check all connections

Expert:  WCohn replied 9 months ago.

How'd that work out??

Customer: replied 9 months ago.
I assume that E1 means that the indoor unit and the outdoor unit are not communicating. What would cause that if it had been running properly before? Jim

A bad connection or a bad circuit board

Customer: replied 9 months ago.
I've checked connections...they seem to be good. How do I check circuit board?
Expert:  WCohn replied 9 months ago.

You can't without knowing all the parameters for all connections. What about the cable between the two units? Any rodent damage or any other cuts or kinks?

Customer: replied 9 months ago.
Haven't seen any will look specifically in am for that and be back in touch
