The buttons on my Carrier Thermostat have been acting up.

Customer Question

the buttons on my Carrier Thermostat have long been acting up. When we push on the Temp UP and DOWN buttons, they often don't register or work. What can be done? it often takes about 5 minutes of pushing/pressure for the button to work.
JA: Just to clarify, do you think this is a larger HVAC problem, or something specific to the thermostat?
Customer: completely specific to the thermostat. the HVAC is working fine. this has been an issue for a while and the system works fine
JA: Do you plan on doing the work yourself?
Customer: if i could. it depends
JA: Anything else we should know to help you best?
Customer: i think that is it

Numbers NG you can find model on the inside part of t-stat if that applies to your t-stat

Expert:  Gaztech replied 9 months ago.

I will sum up to telling you that t-stat touch pad buttons, especially the up and down buttons have worn out the contact point and will need to be replace with new T-Stat
