Customer Question

Hi. I have an error light that is blinking 3 times and my heat will not come on
JA: Did you double-check the thermostat's settings? And what about the filters?
Customer: Yes to both
JA: Do you plan on doing the work yourself?
Customer: I fixed it last year...can't remember what I did. Maybe I was just lucky
JA: Anything else we should know to help you best?

Is the exhaust fan kicking on at start up?

Customer: replied 11 months ago.
Can't be sure. The green light goes solid. The unit hums then it goes to 3 blinking lights but I do not hear a fan
Customer: replied 11 months ago.
It's a dgaa070bdtb
Expert:  BillyHvac replied 11 months ago.

Ok that is the issue...see if the exhaust fan is stuck..has a bird, nest...or maybe just needs a nudge....we nee that to run first in order to activate a switch

Customer: replied 11 months ago.
Where is the exhaust fan?
Expert:  BillyHvac replied 11 months ago.

do you know where the exhaust pipe is?

Customer: replied 11 months ago.
Is it the same one for the a/c?
Expert:  BillyHvac replied 11 months ago.

It is the chimney pipe

Expert:  BillyHvac replied 11 months ago.

or take door off and take pic of furnace and post here using the attach files link.

Then I can draw what we need on it

Customer: replied 11 months ago.
Ok
Expert:  BillyHvac replied 11 months ago.

see a basic drawing HERE

Customer: replied 11 months ago.
I think you mean the lower one
Expert:  BillyHvac replied 11 months ago.

Ok, see the picture HERE

The exhaust fan MUST start and run...which in turn closes the air switch

Customer: replied 11 months ago.
If I short out the switch shouldn't it fool the system and at least put heat out?
Expert:  BillyHvac replied 11 months ago.

no..if the fan does not run to force the carbon monoxide outside it will cause great problems.

That safety switch is to make sure the excess heat and carbon monoxide go outside instead of burning the furnace.

Can you remove that fan or tap on side while it is humming?

Customer: replied 11 months ago.
am removing
Expert:  BillyHvac replied 11 months ago.

we need to see if it just needs to be unstuck, or worse if motor is bad

Expert:  BillyHvac replied 11 months ago.

And please note that without this fan running it is 100% dangerous to try and bypass

Customer: replied 11 months ago.
It's not going to start
Customer: replied 11 months ago.
Do you want me to totally remove it?
Expert:  BillyHvac replied 11 months ago.

In that case you are pretty much stuck with replacing the assembly.

This is how it comes

Customer: replied 11 months ago.
Currently unavailable. :). I don't have it fully out. Let me try that
Expert:  BillyHvac replied 11 months ago.

hopefully you can coax it to run...

Customer: replied 11 months ago.
I won't be able to get that out. I will have to have someone come and do that. Thank you
Expert:  BillyHvac replied 11 months ago.

I certainly wish you the best and thank you for your patience.
