Do you have an air conditioner outside and an air handler inside?

Customer: replied 9 months ago.
the air conditioning unit is outside. The cooling coils, furnace and air handler is in the basement

going to eat dinner
Expert:  WCohn replied 9 months ago.

Enjoy the meal. When back tell me at which unit you hear the humming.

Customer: replied 9 months ago.
It is definitely coming from the blower in the basement. The blower moves air (cold or warm) through the house. So I currently hear the noise when air conditioning but would also hear it during the heating season.

Does the hum sound like electrical or mechanical?

Customer: replied 9 months ago.
Hard to tell. I believe mechanical but I have had the starting capacitors go bad on motors and had them hum.
Customer: replied 9 months ago.
I measured the current draw of the motor and it was High so I am assuming the motor is going bad. I really don't think you helped me much here will I be obliged to pay $28.00

If you are done and solved it on your own I can send you to refunds. That's not a problem at all. If it sounds more like a mechanical hum it may be a bearing. Let me know if a refund is what you need.
