flash codes say that the combustion air switch failed to close. How can I remedy that problem
JA: Did you double-check the thermostat's settings? And what about the filters?
Customer: thermostat is up and the filters are off
JA: Do you plan on doing the work yourself?
Customer: if possible...furnace kicks on but does not ignite
JA: Anything else we should know to help you best?
Customer: it just hums and throws out the flash code

Can you give me model on furnace? Most furnaces have a small vent motor that has to come on and pull a vacuum on the switch.Sounds like that motor may be bad if you hear a hum

Does this little motor come on or is that where the hum seems to be coming from?

If you have a volt meter lets check to see if we get 120v to this motor.Nothing else can happen until it does.

the humming sounds like it is coming from the squirrel cage (the big fan motor) no volt meter

OK Either onr of two things is going on.

1. The board is bad, not signaling combustion motor to come on

2.Combutsion motor is stuck or defective
