I'm looking at a Lenix diplomat furnace model 80 MG F 3–75

Customer Question

I'm looking at a Lenix diplomat furnace model 80 MG F 3–75 8–2. It is not igniting and there is an LED light flashing four times. What does this indicate?
JA: Did you check the furnace's filters?
Customer: Yes I have to replace the filter 16 x 25 x 1
JA: Do you plan on doing the work yourself?
Customer: Yes I am actually at Fireplace tech but I'm at the customers house and they've asked me to look at it.
JA: Anything else we should know to help you best?
Customer: I'm sure the diagnostic LED but tell us the problem. But I do not have a manual and don't know what the four QuickFlash is mean.

ok was the filter pretty dirty to where it could have restricted air flow?

Customer: replied 10 months ago.
Expert:  BillyHvac replied 10 months ago.

ok first thing...on the front wall above burners is a credit card sized flat plate with 2 wires...the limit...first tapp that plate a few times...then press center button on 2 roll outs above burner

See Here

a different view here

Then tell me if 4 blinks still present and we can try next step

Expert:  BillyHvac replied 10 months ago.

I apologize but I am not currently configured for phone contact

Customer: replied 10 months ago.
All right there is a round metal piece that I hose and two wires are connected to I've tap that and then it looks like there's two buttons one on either side above the burners which I've pressed. Still get for blinks
Expert:  BillyHvac replied 10 months ago.

do you still have 4 blinks?

Also you can post a pic of what you see and I can mark with directions

Expert:  BillyHvac replied 10 months ago.

remove the 2 wires from the front wall limit switch that you tapped

put the wires directly together metal to metal....turn on and tell me if blinks stopped

Expert:  BillyHvac replied 10 months ago.

does this furnace blow air upward or downward?

Because if you follow the wires from the limit...a downflow has another limit in the blower section

Expert:  BillyHvac replied 10 months ago.

another side view...lets put the wires direct together as if switch were not there.

Expert:  BillyHvac replied 10 months ago.

4 blinks stop?

Customer: replied 10 months ago.
For a quick blinks them in a stall them for quick blinks, repetitively.
Expert:  BillyHvac replied 10 months ago.

ok, then there is another limit in series. Can you follow those wires both directions and tell me if it goes to another limit other than the 2 roll outs?

Customer: replied 10 months ago.
Sorry you'll have to give me a few minutes this is taking a long time and a lot of charge out of my phone. I am sitting in my van now charging it up. I'll need a few minutes and then I'll go back in
Expert:  BillyHvac replied 10 months ago.

No problem.

The issue is 4 blinks means it overheated and tripped a limit.

You pressed the roll outs firmly and checked the proimary but there is another you can find by following the wires....you can bypass it to see if the 4 blinks stops..press a center button if it has one..

The just respond when you can

Here is the blink chart

Here is a manual

If it works out for you just rate service to close...and if it still has 4 blink just respond and let me know.

Customer: replied 10 months ago.
Okay so I've presses both and there's no ignition and still 4 blinks?
Expert:  BillyHvac replied 10 months ago.

did you look in the blower section?...did you follow the wires from the limits to see if they led to another? The switches are one after another so you can follow wire switch to switch...this unit has an option for blower limit. I asked earlier but do not recall you answering....is this an upflow or downflow?

Customer: replied 10 months ago.
It blows up. Found 2 switches in relay. Pressed both and tried again. Blower comes but no ignition?
Expert:  BillyHvac replied 10 months ago.

yes it blows because limit is tripped in the series.

See secondary limits in blower section HERE

Customer: replied 10 months ago.
I'm not seeing another switch is it inside the blower housing
Expert:  BillyHvac replied 10 months ago.

correct...like the pic I sent.

Customer: replied 10 months ago.
I took off what I assume is the air feed on top of the blower, and found sawdust laying around the opening! Is that normal?
Expert:  BillyHvac replied 10 months ago.

no that is not normal.

Can you take pics and post of the blower section?

Customer: replied 10 months ago.
I tried sending pics earlier but it didn't work! Im going to get someone in.
Expert:  BillyHvac replied 10 months ago.

I understand.

If you traced the wires switch to switch it would lead to the blower limit.

Power starts at the board that blinks....goes to rollouts, limit on front wall then to blower limit and finally back to the board...

I really wish you the best on this project
