Customer Question

I have Model # WPG3304060 . I am remodeling and would like to run vents overhead instead of floor and would like to locate unit at end of house instead of in the middle.
The person handling the remodel states that it is not recommended to run an outside vertical run and that it would have to be roof mounted. The ceiling height is 8'.
He also states that I don't have enough CFM to push the air from one end to the other. He also stated if it did it would not run as efficiently and cost more in monthly utilities. I will have 1272 Sq. ft. when remodel is completed. 992 Sq. Ft. is in a straight line with a 280 Sq. Ft. add on that is to the left. The largest rooms ( including the add in are at the opposite end of where I want to place unit.
Please advise.

Hello and thanks for using this service! If you are a JA Member I would like to personally thank you and welcome you back! I am HVAC Guru an extremely experienced tech on the site and I try to get to as many customers as I can. NOTE it takes time for me to type research and add links so please wait for me to respond back I can only do this so fast. Secondly, I do not know your skill level so please try and let me know if I am going beyond your knowledge or comfort zone thanks! I strive for a 5 star rating from everyone especially our JA members.

Ideally he is correct the unit should be centrally located as it will be a lot more difficult to push air from one end to the other. This will cost more to run and will have poorer results. Vertical runs should be with a roof mounted unit or attic mounted unit. I would go with a unit in the attic if you want to do what you are planning as that would make the most sense for overhead runs and then you can place the unit in the middle or more central to assist with the airflow.

All I ask is please use the Star Rating Link at the top of your page before leaving, that is the only way I am paid anything through the site and that will also get you a DIRECT LINK emailed to you to get back to me! are greatly appreciated so thank you very much for using this service. If you have any other questions just post back to me here anytime!
