I have a totalineone day programmable thermostat that isn't

Customer Question

I have a totaline(###) ###-####one day programmable thermostat that isn't working. I changed the batteries and it won't let me set up the temperatures. I had previously tried plugging in a power source that I thought was a part of the thermostat but unfortunately it was not. I have no AC and it is quite hot here in Utah. I am a first time homeowner and this thermostat/ac system came with the house. Please help if you can.

Hello,

my name is Billy.

Do you mind a test that involves removing the top section of the thermostat?

Customer: replied 1 year ago.
I don't mind that but I am at work right now. I don't have the actual thermostat in front of me
Customer: replied 1 year ago.
Is there a way I can get a hold of you after I get home? I should be there in about an hour.
Expert:  BillyHvac replied 1 year ago.

It is a bypass to see if the system works without the thermostat.

This tells us if it is thermostat related or something else.

Remove top section.

Locate wires on R, G, Y. Twist these 3 wires together.

Ac works = bad thermostat

Ac does NOT work = system fault

OK I will read those instructions again and will do the test. I have your email so I can contact you again after I do the test.

Ok I'm home. My thermostat is wireless am I removing the top of the thermostat or the top of the receiver?
Expert:  BillyHvac replied 1 year ago.

We want to bypass at receiver end heading to furnace

Customer: replied 1 year ago.
Am I supposed to turn off the furnace or breaker or can I just do this without turning off anything? Right now I'm trying to find a small Philips head screwdriver to get to the wires

power off at furnace will suffice
