but then it turns off after a few minutes. I can see frost on the lines too when it is running.

OK sounds like we have power.Most likely a bad fan or bad capacitor. Lets go to furnace ,remove both panels and give me model on furnace.It will be

inside furnace in burner compartment so I can provide guidance with this specific unit.Model will be on a label just above burners on right or left inside panel

That is evaporator on top of furnace.Furnace model will be inside burner compartment

OK the V in model probably means we have a variable speed motor with no capacitor. Look at blower and tell me if it has a capacitor or if motor has a bell on end with 2 separate plugs.http://i.imgur.com/TnvwGV2.png

Your furnace has what is called a variable speed motor which requires a special tool for testing.

The problem is going to be one of two things. One could be the control board is not sending signal to motor and the other which is most common is a defective controller on the motor.

The tool for testing costs about 100 bucks. You can see it at link below:

If you have the tool or wish to obtain it, I will be happy to assist you in detemining if issue is with control board or motor.

If this is something you want to troubleshoot and have or can obtain the test tool,let me know.Otherwise you will need an onsite tech to troubleshoot to determine if issue is motor controller or board.
