Replacing old 20 yrs Honeywell thermostat with new one. Old one had a W wire and new one has slot for W2 only, not W. Can I put my W wire into the new W2 slot?

Customer: replied 1 year ago.

You want a RTH7500 (without d)

Your current thermostat with L E (electric back up) )/B(heat pump reverse valve)..is set up for a heat pump

Customer: replied 1 year ago.

thanks for the info, helped me not screw up my wiring.
Expert:  BillyHvac replied 1 year ago.

There could be work around if you want me to check...but the codes will not match

Expert:  BillyHvac replied 1 year ago.

That is why you didnt see a W....

Customer: replied 1 year ago.
Ill just return it for correct unit for my older wiring. thanks bye
Expert:  BillyHvac replied 1 year ago.

my personal thought is to get a thermostat that matches your system and letters...

If you are all set just rate service and I will close.

Customer: replied 1 year ago.
ok close now thanks
Expert:  BillyHvac replied 1 year ago.

I apologize but until service is rated the system forces a response from me...

Just rate and then I do not have to respond.

For some reason the system is still showing as open...help me close by rating the service at top of page...then I can move off active list.

Thank you

were you able to get a different thermostat installed?
