Hello, there may not be enough water flow through the pool heater to trip its flow switch (that allows the burner to come on).... or the unit may have over heated on gone off on its internal heat over load.

Make sure the pool filters are clean and the line strainers are not clogged up then give it another try.

there can be a wide range of other causes as well.
