TRy holding the HUMIDTY DOWN button for about 5 seconds

We tried holding the button down as it said in the manual but it goes back to the 90% setting everything. .. so we are not getting more than 90% humidity in the area. The dehumidifier is not allowing us to set it to its full potential.

If this is new, I would take it back.Sounds like a bad control board if not allowing you to lower the setting.
