Visiting SAN Antonio Texas, from out of state.. Nephew has non vented natural gas heater - a Ritetemp heater. I turned it off, but he says it does not require a vent pipe. Is there sush a heater? Just curious.

I can't speak to this specific unit but there are gas heaters/fireplaces that don't require a vent. They are invariably low input (under 30k btu's) and have an oxygen depletion sensor that will shut them down if the oxygen in the room falls to unacceptable levels
