Customer Question

Customer: Hi Phil... my name is ***** ***** Teetsell
My issue is with the Ritetemp 8085c and the touch screen.
some places on the touch screen do not respond.
like "Home" for instance
JA: Thanks. Can you give me any more details about your issue?
Customer: We just recently turned the heat on in our house and have tried programming the thermostat.
Some parts of the touch screen (Home, days of the week, time) do not respond to touching with the stylus.

Do you notice any difference when using the stylus or your finger ?

Customer: replied 1 year ago.
The stylus usually works better. I've used both though.

If you press harder or hold longer, will it eventually change?

Customer: replied 1 year ago.
No, in fact it usually just reverts back to the home screen without saving my changes if I press too hard.

I know this is not the answer you want, but Rite Temp are cheap and well known to be unreliable thermostats.Erratic behavior even often changing settings on their own.The computer board has probably taken a power surge causing the isues. Best thing to do is replace it with a Honeywell,White Rodgers or Robertshaw thermostat.I prefer the Honeywell . You can get a decent Honeywell at Lowes for around 50 bucks.

Which model provides equal functionality as the 8085c?
Expert:  airheatman replied 1 year ago.

Sorry ,had a phone call. I like the Honeywell RTH 8500

They run about 100 bucks at Lowes or Home Depot.

If you don't want touchscreen, the 6350 is about 50 bucks and does all that the Rittemp you have
