My furnace continuously heats and doesn't shut down. The A/C is running since it is on cool, but it get over powered. I have to shut off the gas to the furnace to get cool air to come out of vents.

If you turn the thermostat to OFF does it still run?

If you remove the thermostat does furnace still try to run?

Now at furnace....if you remove the Red wire from R...this is the thermostat wire from thermostat...if you remove that wire does it still run?

Thank you...then somewhere in the thermostat wire you have a short.

The issue is from the point it leaves R terminal...you will find the issue in the wiring..

If you remove thermostat and it still runs it is wiring.

If you remove thermostat and it stops it is thermostat
