I would know if I can take a standard 5 ton residential heat

Customer Question

I would know if I can take a standard 5 ton residential heat pump and replace its evaporator coil with a 5 ton refrigerant to water heat exchanger. I plan to use both its heat and cool functions.

yes you could. This is actually just turning it into a pool heat pump or geo.

you would need to size the exchanger properly. I do not know how much you plan on investing but some of the exchangers start at $500 and go up from there.
