The compressor will become noisy, like a grinding/squealing sound, the fan will stop turning and the sound will continue for about 2 to 3 minutes. Then it will be quite for 2 to 3 minutes and it will restart and run mormally. Occurs several times a day in high usage, very cold or hot ambient temperatures. I am at 7000 ft altitude in low humidity area.

Sounds like you may have a defrost board going out. In defrost mode, the power is removed from fan.Compressor becomes loud during defrost mode. It sounds like board id momentarily entering a defrost cycle.
